Die Forschungsplattform Human Rights in the European Context wurde im Februar 2008 gegründet. In ihr haben sich 
WissenschafterInnen von zwölf Instituten aus sechs Fakultäten der Universität Wien zusammengeschlossen, um die interdisziplinäre Lehre und Forschung zum Thema Menschenrechte in Europa voranzutreiben.
Koordinations- und Kommunikationszentrum der Plattform ist das 
Ludwig Boltzmann Institut für Menschenrechte (BIM).
